Make the most out of summer

The return to your favorite summer activities is fast approaching and we want to make sure that you are able to make the most of it! You can prepare yourself for the start of the spring & summer season, whether it’s for golf, tennis, biking, soccer, baseball… You will maximize your performance and enjoyment, while also reducing the risk of injury!

Many of the sports we participate in during the summer require physical demands that are very different than what we use in the winter, such as mobility, strength, and coordination. Starting a new activity can be challenging, and although it may not seem like much, new movements require time to adapt for the body.

For this reason, we recommend that you prepare for the upcoming season!

How to prepare properly?

The best way to prepare your body for the activity you want to do is to start by breaking down the activity into parts and doing them in small amounts!

For example, if you play baseball or softball, you could practice throwing the ball, and gradually increase the number of throws and the speed at which you throw over the course of a couple weeks leading up to the season. When you get to the first game, your shoulder will be better adapted to tolerate the movement that you have to repeat numerous times.

This principle can be applied to the demands of any sport, such as a golf swing, tennis serve, and even running. You can start practicing these movements now, and gradually increase the amount of volume over the course of the next weeks and months.

Consistency is the key!
