Ralitsa Mincheva is a physiotherapist who graduated from McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine. She speaks French, English and Bulgarian.
Ralitsa has an immense interest in all aspects of physical therapy. Seeing as physical therapy is still an evolving profession, Ralitsa puts a lot of emphasis on her continuous education striving to provide evidence-based approaches. Furthermore, she strives to ensure an approach that includes multifaceted interventions. As such, her vision of physical therapy intertwines the musculoskeletal system with cardiopulmonary as well as neurological rehabilitation. Ralitsa’s priority is therefore to consider each client’s individual needs while simultaneously treating each body system for a more optimised and efficient approach.
With a background in biology and veterinary medicine, Ralitsa continues to have an interest in animal health, and the ways the human body converges in similarity to our four-legged friends. Because of her love for animals, Ralitsa originally pursued physical therapy with the idea to practice in equine rehabilitation. However, she rapidly discovered the extents to which physical therapy was helping improve the quality of life of those around her. In fact, Ralitsa considers that the greatest gift of being a physical therapist is her ability to help her loved ones with their injuries and pain. All of this helped her realise that her vocation would be to continue to invest in physiotherapy (with humans 😉 ).
Ralitsa is highly interested in uro-genital rehabilitation. She believes that there is still a lack of education on the importance of the pelvic floor. Unfortunately, many people who suffer from urinary incontinence and pelvic floor pain are left without resources. From athletes to patients with cancer diagnosis, her knowledge in these problems can be used to help increase quality of life and comfort.
Ralitsa also has knowledge (interest) in the field of oncology rehabilitation, having worked with patients with urological, gynecological and breast cancers. Patients with past cancer diagnosis or undergoing cancer treatment are often neglected when it comes to rehabilitation services. They can be unaware of the benefits physical therapy can provide for them. As such, Ralitsa continues to advocate for the improvement of physical therapy accessibility. This improved accessibility will lead to better quality of life, especially when undergoing painful treatments or living with the long-term effects of cancer.
Ralitsa is an avid lover of nature and makes it a priority to spend time outdoors. In her free time, you can find her doing spicy Vinyasa yoga flows, weightlifting to help maintain her strength and running, a passion she discovered when she joined the Physio Dynamik team. Not forgetting her initial interests, Ralitsa continues to apply physical therapy approaches on her beloved pets (link), helping them live happy and active lives.
